Creative Mental Health Group
Middle School Girls (10-13 years)
This group is designed to help build resiliency in pre-teens as they begin their journey entering into a more demanding period of life. Group members will explore the purpose emotions serve while cultivating skills and renewed perspectives for better managing their surge of emotions during preadolescenthood.
Creative activities are utilized to facilitate self-exploration, promote identity development, and provide active applications for emotion-regulation skill development. Through the exploration of creative mediums, pre-teens will develop mental and physical tools for reducing unhelpful thinking patterns and establishing healthy perspectives alongside like-minded peers.
Each group session includes:
Education and therapeutic processing related to healthy coping and decision-making skills
Creative expression and exploration to apply their newly learned skills while refining their self-concept
Opportunities for connection among peers while promoting appropriate and effective social skills for future friendships
Benefits of using creative modalities in therapy:
Provides a safe, comfortable environment for teens to learn and implement mental health techniques.
Allows clients to immediately implement what they learn.

Offers a healthy way for teens to pre-teens explore and express their emotions, who they are, who they want to be, and how they can get there.
